SUMMARY:

Reports to the Principal and works under the direction of the teacher/librarian. Performs a variety of technical clerical and cataloging duties to support the functions of the school library.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Completion of two-year post-secondary Library Technician's Diploma.

Knowledge of and experience in maintaining library files, cataloging and classification, including rules, procedures and practices.

Knowledge of various automated library systems such as Follett, Eloquent, etc.

Excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills and ability to use judgement and tact in providing information.

Ability to deal accurately with a wide variety of tasks and details. Ability to operate a variety of office and audio-visual equipment. Knowledge of WCB and WHMIS regulations. Safe work practices. Physically capable of performing the duties of the position.

Some positions may require the knowledge of a language other than English. Understanding of website development software and multiple operating systems.

Must be detail oriented, accurate, creative, flexible, adaptable, and able to work with students and teachers.
