Position Overview:


The Kidd Operations Closure Lead is responsible to develop and oversee the Closure Execution Plan and for chairing the Closure Steering Committee and managing the mine closure working group.

The role must ensure that the Glencore Values and GCC Principles and objectives are followed in creating a plan that is detailed in terms of time and cost to ensure safe and responsible closure.


The Kidd Operations Closure Lead will be expected to develop a plan that can be adjusted based on the assets life of mine scenarios and provide overarching strategies for Kidd operations, which includes acting as spokesperson to external stakeholders and rights holders.


Additional responsibilities include:


  • Responsible to ensure all aspects of accountabilities highlight that "Operating Safely Remains Our Top Priority" despite distractions linked to closure uncertainty.
  • Develop and manage all aspects of a Closure Execution plan that accounts for sudden closure, LOM, and potential (minor) extension of LOM. This includes transitional activities (as per guiding principles and objectives) works, prior to handing management of assets to closed sites.
  • Manage and maintain an up to date Closure Execution Plan (CEP) that contains all aspects of the 14 ICMM closure elements.
  • Responsible to ensure that Closure Execution plan delivers aspirational maturity that has been approved by steering committee.
  • Develop and maintain a Risk Register upon completion of the risk assessment (RACI review).
  • Develop and own a process to ensure option analysis are completed to select actions for mitigating controls.
  • Accountable to establish/manage controls to ensure actionable items are assigned/executed as per schedule, scope, cost, and includes a completion sign off.
  • Develop and manage project plan (WBS) that includes critical path activities and milestones.
  • Develop LOM closure budget and execution controls of closure plan that include internal monthly reporting as well as reporting to GCC stakeholders.
  • Lead stakeholder management strategy for socioeconomic aspects of closure (includes leading discussions) as well as participate in stakeholder management strategy for environmental rehabilitation and Mine 5 project, as these three initiatives are linked.
  • Develop and ensure a process is established in which multiple (3) communication strategies can be linked into a single initiative.
  • Responsible to manage closure execution plan in a way that it not does not divert focus away from HSEC priorities
  • Responsible and expected to maintain open and transparent communications to internal/external stakeholders
  • Responsible to ensure all Glencore standards are embedded into communication strategies and stakeholder management processes
  • Accountable to manage community affairs and community programs, such as the Community Partnership Program

Qualifications:


  • Degree in project management, mining engineering or similar field
  • 710 years experience in project management
  • Experience in mine closure would be considered an asset
  • Ability to work with mínimal supervision and work cooperatively in a team environment.
