Compensation Range

$4, $6,253.75 CAD Monthly

In the normal course, employees will be hired, transferred or promoted between the minimum and midpoint of the salary range for a job.

Job Summary


The Active Kids Program Manager is responsible for partnership building, program design, administrative oversight, implementation, marketing, reporting, and supervising student employees for current and future Active Kids programs.

The Program Manager is a key member of the Outreach Programs at the School of Kinesiology, as such the incumbent contributes creativity, project coordination skills, and educational expertise.

Organizational Status

Reports directly to the Active Kids Program Director. The Program Manager works both independently and in partnership with colleagues of the School of Kinesiology's Outreach Programs. Liaises with students, the public including children and adults and community stakeholders, as well as departmental staff and faculty. This position is responsible for supporting the successful prioritization, coordination, and execution of Active Kids related projects and tasks.

Work Performed


Program Management, Design and Delivery:

  • Responsible for partnership building, program design, administration, implementation, and occasional instruction required to maintain current and develop new programming in areas such as, but not limited to, Physical Literacy programming, Health and Wellbeing programming, Indigenous programming, Adapted Physical Activity programming, Sport Specific programming, and other new community programming areas as required.
  • Liaises with faculty and Outreach team to ensure programs are evidence based and best practices.
  • Assists with the integration of academic curriculum and research activities to practical programs.
  • Identifies learning objectives and experiential learning opportunities for UBC students, focusing on Kinesiology students specifically.
  • Oversees staff training and professional development opportunities.
  • Responsible for student instructional staff and volunteer performance evaluations and mentorship.
  • Works with campus partners and leaders to support program goals and objectives.
  • Aligns program delivery with the School of Kinesiology Strategic Plan.

Administrative Oversight:

  • Recruiting, interviewing, training, scheduling, supervising, and performance evaluation of program support staff and student volunteer for new and existing programs offered through Active Kids
  • Ensures adequate staffing is available to meet Active Kids program demand
  • Weekly ingym instructional / teaching hours are mínimal but will vary pending program requirements. Occasional evenings and weekends may be required.
  • Ensure adequate certification and maintenance of accurate records of all support staff and equipment
  • Organizes and participates in training, orientation, and information sessions.
  • Communications internally and externally between the programs and collaborating partners.
  • Develops, maintains and documents detailed procedures and operations for each program/site.
  • Supports the Gymnastics Program Coordinator for gymnastics client assessments, private lessons, group bookings, and special events.
  • Assists with creating, maintaining and updating all social media, website, and marketing materials for UBC Gymnastics and UBC Active Kids programs.
  • Attends to the Osborne Registration Office front counter to assist with registration and client inquiries when required
  • Acts as the main point of contact for Active Kids public inquiries and reinforces all program policies.
  • Performs analyses of enrollment data on a regular basis.
  • Supports the Registration Office with the processing of Active Kids registration related processes where necessary, such as the development and the maintenance of the registration software.
