About the job:

Four Corners Engineering is looking for a Lab Manager to manage the three labs - concrete lab, aggregate lab, and asphalt lab - in FCE Tottenham office.

The position will be required to manage, supervise, and maintain the operation of the labs.

Details of the responsibilities are included but not limited to:

Responsibilities:

Manage the daily testing of the labs, including reviewing the reports and communication with clients, if necessary, especially in the occurrence of testing confusion or odd testing results.
Review reports tested from inhouse labs or external labs when required as per different specifications, such as CSA, OPSS, AASHTO, or ASTM.
Schedule and Manage technicians working in lab and in field, including the CCIL certification of them.
Training and upgrading of lab and field staff.
Communicating with CCIL or MTO representative for the lab certification related and preparing annual certification documents.
Maintaining calibration/verification records of equipment as per CSA.
Maintaining good standing of annual MTO/CCIL proficiency programs for the labs, including the testing of concrete, aggregate, soil, and asphalt samples.
Working as the RSO of FCE,

- managing the transportation, operation, and storage of the portable nuclear gauges used for compaction in field.

Communication with CNSC about the annual reporting and safety operation of gauge using in FCE.
Developing new tests if required.
Site visiting to perform inspection or supervision of materials testing in GTA if required.
Interview and hire new employees.
Make recommendations for new lab equipment purchases.

Skills and Qualifications:

University degree in civil engineering or geotechnical engineering.
Minimum 2 years of laboratory management or supervision experience.
Minimum 2 years of laboratory testing of different engineering materials.
CCIL certified for concrete, aggregate, and asphalt is an asset.
Possess P.Eng license is an asset.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Valid driver's license (G).
Ability and willingness to be mobile and travel for work when and as needed.

Primary location:7171 2nd Line, Tottenham, ON L0G 1W0

Working hours:40 hr per week.

Travel:
Around 25% of the time.
