Key Responsibilities:


  • Respond to customer enquiries, providing information concerning products, selection and prices.
  • Ensure on shelf merchandise reflects current listing base.
  • Coordinate writeoff and retail reduction with key stakeholders
  • Organize cooler so as to facilitate stocking of shelf, product rotation and inventory count.
  • Check on shelf inventory for code date so as to comply with department policy.
  • Restock on shelf inventory as required.
  • Prepare a wide variety of deli meats, cheeses and party trays.
  • Responsible to manage merchandise through presentation, promotions and displays.
  • Merchandise products on flyer to maximize sales.
  • Develop productive working relationship with other store staff, ie. Sanitation, Pricing Coordinator and Receiving so as to optimize Deli department sales.
  • Ensure all department employees receive proper training and supervision.
  • Effectively manage employees by efficiently scheduling personnel to meet the needs of the department based on business volume and workloads.
  • Complies with all store policies and procedures.
  • Perform other tasks as required by management to meet business needs.
  • Needs to be available to work flexible shifts including evenings, weekends and holidays.

Skills & Knowledge:


  • 35 years of experience working in a grocery department in a large format retail food environment, preferably in a supervisory or assistant supervisory role.
  • Postsecondary education and/or experience in merchandising and/or business management is considered an asset.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, interpersonal and problemsolving skills.
  • Exceptional customer service skills with a talent for building customer loyalty.
  • Strong motivational, leadership skills & organizational abilities able to manage multiple priorities.
  • Ability to work in a fastpaced environment.
