A day in the role of a housekeeping aide at Niagara Long Term Care Residence:

As a housekeeping aide at Niagara Long Term Care Residence, you will be placed in a role with high expectations to provide exemplary housekeeping needs for the residents of our home.

Unlike other housekeeping positions in this role, you get to see the effect you have on a person's everyday life.

In your role, it is expected that you make personal connections with the residents, as providing them care is our top priority.

In this position, you will be a part of our housekeeping team, and will be responsible for but not limited to:

  • Ensuring the daily neatness and cleanliness of residents' rooms, offices, and common areas,
  • Cleaning, sanitizing, and performing duties, including but not limited to: routine, deep, terminal, and discharge cleaning, floor cleaning and maintenance, and waste management according to schedules,
  • Maintaining a clean, safe environment for residents utilizing infection control principles,
  • Checking that supplies are adequate in housekeeping and equipment is in proper working order before commencing daily routine,
  • Carrying out duties in a positive and professional manner within a multidisciplinary team,
  • Performing other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

The qualifications needed to join our family at Lancaster are as follows:


  • A positive mindset, as well as a connection with our values,
  • Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills, oral and written, and the demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively are essential,
  • Physical and mental requirements needed in the position,
  • Knowledge of housekeeping and experience in the role are assets,
  • Basic understanding of cleaning equipment,
  • Knowledge of WHMIS and Fire Safety Procedures,
  • Demonstrated commitment to learning and continuous improvement,
  • Must have a clear vulnerable sector screen, no older than 6 months, TB test results, less than 6 months old, evidence of flu shot, and must be able to provide three work references.
