Administrative Full-Time New Position

This position is responsible for the management of the Curriculum Alignment department.

The Curriculum Alignment department is accountable for overseeing, coordinating, and supporting curriculum functions and services across Conestoga including:

advisement on course and program development and review; alignment of curriculum within programs and between programs and external requirements; validating curriculum evidence to support alignment; design and delivery of relevant professional development to the Conestoga community; recommending and implementing related policies, procedures and practices; liaising with internal and external resources including MCU, OCQAS and CVS; Chairs and Executive Deans.


It is anticipated that this position will meet the needs of the department through a hybrid work arrangement, primarily working remotely.

When working on-site, this position will be primarily located at Conestoga's 3065 King St. E location in Kitchener.


Responsibilities:


  • Manage the Curriculum Alignment department and staff to ensure project work is appropriately allocated, monitored, and reported upon and aligns with Conestoga's Strategic Mandate Agreement
  • Encourage the development of a supportive, cohesive, collaborative curriculum alignment team by encouraging members to build upon their strengths and take initiative within their scope of accountability
  • Ensure curriculum related quality assurance policies, practices, and processes are developed, refined, monitored and revised accordingly
  • Complete job descriptions and performance evaluations for direct reports aligned with Conestoga's human resource practices and expectations
  • Make recommendations to develop, enhance, and support sustainability of the Curriculum Alignment department from a service delivery perspective
  • Provide recommendations that support compliance with the Framework for Programs of Instruction; Minister's Binding Policy Directive and associated Ministry legislation governing the design, development and implementation of nondegree programs
  • Supervise work study/coop students including allocating tasks, monitoring and assuming responsibility for work performed, when applicable
  • Liaise with Conestoga College services to ensure consolidation of curriculum planning and operations related tasks
  • Ensure current, and approved new and future directions of the Curriculum Alignment department are communicated using a variety of methods, tools, resources and mediums to the Conestoga community
  • Represent Conestoga at provincial and national meetings and committees to provide consultation relating to best practices and participate in planning future directions, information exchange and resource sharing (CDAG)
  • Make recommendations to address gaps in APR and MPR in support of a facilitative and transparent end to end program renewal process
  • Develop strategies that encourage and support implementation of sound curriculum processes and practices in the APR and MPR process
  • Review recommendations from SPA and PUR and provide feedback where recommendations impact program designs/curriculum
  • Research, locate, develop and recommend appropriate program standards and descriptions and relevant documentation
  • Provide consulting services to the Schools to map curriculum; analyse results of mapping; identify and make recommendations to address gaps; establish action plans and implement curriculum changes at the program and course level
  • Assess program and course revisions for quality of pedagogical approaches and strategies
  • Support the Curriculum Planning and Operations (CPO) department in degree level program and course development, as required
  • Oversee the training function associated with developing curriculum related competencies across the Conestoga community, ensuring workshops and information sessions are developed, scheduled, communicated and updated accordingly
  • Oversee the development of a suite of workshops to support Chairs in strengthening knowledge and implementation of curriculum related polices, practices, and procedures
  • Actively participate in CEDP and its ongoing development
  • Maintain currency in the teaching and learning, curriculum and development domain through reading, attending workshops and conferences, and collaborating with internal and external colleagues and groups
  • Available to teach one course per academic year

  • Master's Degree is required; Master's Degree in Education (MEd) is preferred
  • Minimum five years of releva
