Description

As part of our North American HR team, the HR Business Partner will provide core HR support (employee relations, talent acquisition, policies and procedures development, compliance, talent development, succession planning, compensation, employee engagement, etc.) to assigned business units that operate within a combined North American and International presence.


Position Responsibilities:

Role Overview

  • Manage and provide HR support to multiple client portfolios including employees based in regions across Canada.
  • Build and maintain partnerships with business and functional leaders within the assigned business unit/s to understand HR operational goals and needs.
  • Support the delivery and deployment of HR policies, programs and processes that align with corporate requirements and integrate with the changing needs of the client groups.
  • Lead the coordination and execution of annual HR activities, such as performance planning, talent reviews, and compensation cycles, as well as operational tasks for the assigned client group teams.
  • Work in collaboration with the HR team to build employee experience and talent management programs while exploring best practices, trends, and emerging issues in the industry
  • Track, record, and analyze data as it pertains to workforce requirements, produce HR metrics, and reports as required.
Recruitment, Selection & Onboarding

  • Develop recruitment strategies to attract technical and management talent and stay on top of market trends.
  • Partner with business leaders and hiring managers to thoroughly understand position requirements, including knowledge, skills, and abilities required for the role and team.
  • Execute full cycle recruitment, selection & onboarding for permanent and contract hires in the assigned client groups.
Compensation & Benefits

  • Lead compensation program development for technical positions (i.e., band development, summarizing data, reviewing submissions for relevance, etc.)
  • Complete compensation analysis for workforce transitions and present recommendations to the business leaders (promotions, transfers, etc.)
  • Participate in compensation reviews for applicable client groups, including bonus and annual merit administration, and distribution of employee letters.
  • Support the development of shortterm and longterm incentive plans (i.e., research, administration, and data analysis.)
Employee & Manager Relations

  • Demonstrate knowledge of HR practices, guidelines, and regulations to ensure its compliance and to provide advice regarding compliance with all applicable provincial employment laws, regulations, and Westport's corporate policies, procedures, and processes.
  • Monitors and ensures the organization's compliance with local employment laws and regulations, including recommended best practices; facilitates legal and executive reviews and modifies policies and procedures to maintain compliance.
  • Guide both managers and employees on employeerelated issues, resolving them in an effective and timely manner.
  • Conduct investigations and assist managers in conflict management and other issues.
  • Inform, train, and support managers on various talent management activities and HR programs; evaluate team structures, and skill sets and advise managers on opportunities to strengthen their team's capabilities while developing individual team members.
  • Support and oversee employment contract changes, transfers, and reorganizations within departments.
  • Partner with managers in the execution of annual performance management cycles, merit reviews, employee recognition programs
  • Tracking and addressing performance issues and resolving them in a timely manner; guiding discipline processes, procedures, and terminations.
