About Us:


The Department of Seniors, Community and Social Services (SCSS) provides supports for seniors, families and communities, and helps Albertans access disability services, financial supports, services for the homeless, and other social-based programs.


This ministry supports Albertans through a person-centred, integrated service delivery model that recognizes the unique circumstances, experiences and strengths of individuals and families.


Role:


Reporting to the Director, Financial Policy, Operations and Procurement (POP), the Revenue and Taxation Manager provides leadership and direction for a range of revenue management and taxation activities in the Ministry of Seniors, Community and Social Services.

The Manager provides direction and advice relating to complex activities and issues that can have a broad implication to clients, delivery of financial services, contracted agencies, and other GOA Ministries.

As the
Manager, Revenue and Taxation the key objectives will be:

  • Oversee the Revenue including Recoveries and Assignment of Benefit (AOB) activities/ systems and responsible for their management; including all system enhancements, upgrades, maintenance and implementation. These systems have data extracts to external agencies (e.g. Recoveries System interfaces with LISA/CCD and Collection Agencies regarding client debts, AOB system with the Federal Government).
  • Provide direction to clients, delivery staff, Program Directors, Senior Management, external agencies, other Ministries. In addition, the Manager provides financial reports, financial analysis, impacts, briefing notes, recommendations, and problem resolution, etc.
  • Oversee the reimbursement of the cost of Nutritional Supplement to Alberta Health Services by the SCSS Regions.
  • Manage the work of the unit to support all debt collection activities for the Ministry. This includes participating in cross ministry contract negotiations with collection agencies to increase the integrity and the overall debt management.

Required:


  • Knowledge of the financial systems development life cycle and controls is essential.

Salary:

$3, $4,172.77 bi-weekly ($80,930 - $108,909/year)
