About Us:


The Ministry of Seniors, Community and Social Services provides supports for families and communities, and helps Albertans access disability services, financial supports, services for the homeless, and other social-based programs.

The ministry supports Albertans through a person-centred, integrated service delivery model that recognizes the unique circumstances, experiences and strengths of individuals and families.


Within the Disability Services Division, the Disability Policy and Supports Branch leads program policy and statutory oversight for the Family Support for Children with Disabilities (FSCD) the Persons with Developmental Disabilities (PDD) programs, and other disability programs focusing on accountability, innovation and policy excellence.

Role:

The Program and Policy Analyst reports to the Manager of Program Innovation in the Disability Policy and Supports Branch.

The focus of the Program and Policy Analyst is to perform research and analysis and develop recommendations and information materials on a broad range of issues that may affect the direction and operations of the PDD and FSCD programs.

The Program and Policy Analyst will also provide essential project and coordination supports to a range of working groups, committees and cross-ministry tables.

To be successful in this role, the Program and Policy Analyst will have:

  • The ability to think strategically and develop solutions to complex problems,
  • The ability to provide facts in an objective manner,
  • Knowledge of the policy development cycle and government decisionmaking processes,
  • Excellent verbal and written skills and
  • Knowledge of project coordination strategies.

Qualifications:

University graduation in a related field supplemented by some related experience in writing and interpreting policy documents.

Directly related education or experience considered on the basis of:

  • 1 year of education for 1 year of experience; or
  • 1 year of experience for 1 year of education

The following will be considered assets:

  • Master's degree in a related field
  • Experience with project coordination
  • Experience writing for a variety of audiences
  • Experience with committee, working group or crossministry coordination.

Salary:

$2,310.48 to $3,030.81 bi-weekly: ($60,303 - $79,104/ year)

Hours of work are 36.25 hours weekly.
