The Cyclotron Controls Group, which is responsible for maintenance and improvements of the computer based control system of the TRIUMF 520MeV cyclotron is looking for an Electronics Technician to join their group.


BASIC FUNCTION:


RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Repair and testing of electronic modules
  • Produce or modify documentation for electronic modules
  • Produce or modify computer programs used to test electronic modules
  • Gain an understanding of the existing Cyclotron Control System
  • Gain an understanding of the EPICS Control System software

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:


  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure performing repairs considered an asset.
  • Comfortable with managing more than one task at a time and quickly switching assignments to handle higher priority events.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Windows and Office 36
  • Ability to write computer programs.
  • Knowledge of CAD/CAE programs such as AutoCAD, DraftSight, and Altium
  • Proficient use of test equipment such as oscilloscopes, multimeters & logic analyzers.

NUCLEAR ENERGY WORKER:


The position does not require the incumbent to be trained as a Nuclear Energy Worker but may be a requirement in the future at which time, training would be provided by TRIUMF.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND YEARS OF EXPERIENCE:

Under one year of related experience after graduation with a diploma in electronics from a technical institute such as BCIT, or equivalent.

Applicants must be legally able to work in Canada on a permanent basis (Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident).
