We carry over one million industrial, material handling and business products that are sold through our website, corporate sales people and full color catalogs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Reviews and places purchase orders to the distribution centers for assigned suppliers
- Responsible for managing inventory levels for assigned suppliers/product lines and developing and implementing plans as needed to achieve inventory turns goals
- Expedites and devises alternative solutions to resolve backorders in a timely manner
- Identifies slow moving inventory and initiates supplier returns and/or works crossfunctionally (Marketing, Sales) to devise ways to sell through the inventory
- Works with warehouse and AP teams to processes receiving and inventory exceptions according to established time and process guidelines
- Develops internal crossfunctional relationships to enhance the purchasing process
- Assists Product Managers with strategies to purchase product at the lowest possible price
- Ensures timeliness of product delivery and the quality of the product delivered through frequent interaction with vendors and Product Managers
- Meets with Product Managers regularly to discuss and resolve supplier issues and to review product line performance relative to goal
- Learns to identify product database errors and follows up to ensure correction
- Works on process improvement teams and crossfunctional initiatives
- Works with Demand Planners to develop predefined scenarios for demand shaping or supply relocation, capacity (transportation, DC) to balance/optimize supply and demand
- Reviews and validates procurement and distribution plans (based on business rules, lead times, unconstrained forecasts, sales orders, safety stock requirements, etc)
- Coordinates with suppliers and Product Managers to identify and reconcile gaps and supply shortages, providing an early warning system for issue identification
- Reviews purchasing system and other reports and takes action accordingly
- Develops and implements corrective action plans to address service issues caused by supplier performance
- Meets or exceeds established customer service level goals for assigned items/suppliers
- Participation in special projects and performs additional duties as required
Competencies and skills:
- An Associate Degree in Business or the equivalent experience is required
- Experience with Forecasting or Demand Planning preferred
- APICs Certified in Production & Inventory Management preferred
- Computer literacy and proficiency in MS Office is required
- Excellent organizational and planning skills are required
- Basic negotiation, follow up, and facilitation skills required
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills are also required
- Basic knowledge of descriptive statistics is preferred
