PHS Community Services Society (PHS) is hiring a Mental Health Worker for the Community Transitional Care Team & Float shifts with a set schedule of Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 8:00PM to 8:00AM
Mental Health Workers are the backbone of PHS.

They are embedded within our housing projects and programs to support residents and participants with immediate, practical solutions to day-to-day needs.

These positions acts as the first to respond in medical interventions including overdose response.

We're looking for people who work hard, think on their feet, but still operate seamlessly as part of a team.


PHS is currently hiring for a split position, working Friday's & Sunday's as a Floater across the organization, and Saturday's at Community Transitional Care Team (CTCT).

CTCT is an acute care clinic in a residential setting that provides transitional care and IV-antibiotic therapy to patients who have been released to community care from hospitals.

Residents receive access to IV antibiotic treatment, 24/7 medical care, and psycho-social support.

CTCT provides the patient with the dignity of a home, nutritious food and unconditional support in a harm reduction setting.

Mental Health Worker roles provide foundational skills - many managers and senior staff running housing and programs formerly worked in these positions.

It's a CUPE 1004 union position. Overnight and weekend premiums apply.


Responsibilities

Job duties include (but are not limited to):

  • Provide harm reduction, support, and sheltering services for community members experiencing inadequate housing and/or homelessness.
  • Safety and security measures.
  • General cleaning duties for the project or program.
  • Crisis intervention/deescalation.
  • Acting as the first to respond in medical interventions including overdose response and medical emergencies.

Education and experience

  • Current First Aid and CPR certification is required.
years' experience working with marginalized populations an asset.

  • Must bring a nonjudgmental, compassionate and antioppressive, harm reduction approach.
  • Class 5 Driver's License is a preferred asset.
An equal combination of education, training and experience is acceptable.


Terms of employment

Hours:
Friday, Saturday and Sunday overnights 8:00PM to 8:00AM (33 hours/week). Friday and Sunday shifts will float across the organization as needed, and Saturday shifts will be at CTCT.


please note, mandatory, paid training for this position will be on a Tuesday to Friday starting at 9AM, plus one additional weekday training
