About the Position:


Working Conditions:


  • Reporting to Detour's VP of Operations, the Manager will work closely with the entire executive and roastery team. Fulltime hours (3540/week) are expected, balancing personal needs with business demands, requiring the availability of weekend shifts depending on workload fluctuations.

Responsibilities:


  • Manage retail staff comprehensively, overseeing hiring, onboarding, training, evaluations, and promotions while fostering a culture of positive development.
  • Cultivate positive relationships within both the local and coffee communities, serving as a brand ambassador and enhancing Detour's reputation.
  • Drive financial performance by increasing sales and controlling costs, particularly labour and COGS.
  • Act as the storelevel leader, resolving issues, leading on the floor, and managing crises when necessary.
  • Take a leading role in instore events, supporting sales, staffing, and execution.
  • Bridge communication between Detour's executive team and retail staff to implement companywide objectives and identify opportunities.
  • Ensure compliance with Detour's policies and processes, making recommendations for refinement and improvement.
  • Lead ordering, inventory management, storage, and display functions to optimize sales and reduce waste.
  • Provide exemplary customer service and ensure staff members are trained to do the same.
  • Develop a deep understanding of Detour's product offerings, particularly coffeerelated knowledge.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:


  • Management experience in café or food operations.
  • Track record of successful growth within food properties.
  • Proficiency in inventory management balancing quality and cost effectively.
  • Strong personal brand with the ability to build industry connections; previous ties in the Hamilton coffee scene are advantageous.
  • Familiarity with hospitality software including POS, scheduling, and purchasing systems.
  • Highly accountable and organized, capable of overseeing staff and managing multiple projects.
  • Curiosity and commitment to personal development.
  • Collaborative consensus builder with strong communication skills and a positive demeanour.

Compensation
