About the Opportunity:


Reporting to the Laboratory Services Manager, this position is responsible for registering laboratory patients in an effective and courteous manner, considering always the well being of the client and coworkers in accordance with NSH's Key Strategic Priority Quality and Patient Safety.

Incumbent must be self-motivated with the organizational skills necessary to perform the tasks associated with the lab registration and reception areas.

The incumbent must be able to work independently with the ability to prioritize daily tasks. Rotating shifts and weekend/evening coverage and cross training within other areas of Laboratory Services may be required.

Key components of the position are communication, customer service, data accuracy, punctuality, attention to detail, compliance to standard operating procedures as well as OH&S regulations, etc.


About You:

We would love to hear from you if you have the following:

  • Successful completion of academic Grade 12 or equivalent, required.
  • Graduate of a postsecondary business or office administration program or equivalent, required.
  • Medical Terminology Certificate required.
  • Demonstrated experience in the computerized registration process (Meditech Admissions module) required.
  • Responsible for registering clients for the outpatient laboratory services.
  • Responsible for obtaining and accurately updating client information at time of registration, including demographic and provider information.
  • Responsible for communicating instructions to clients regarding specimen collection and preparations.
  • Responsible for completing daily registration checks, to ensure data integrity is continuously maintained within the Meditech system in accordance with provincial standards.
  • Responsible for performing day to day activities within outpatient laboratory, as required.
  • Responsible for performing other related duties, as assigned.
  • Supports and delivers patientcentered care within the health authority in accordance with quality and patient safety standards.
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred.

Hours:

Permanent, Full-Time position; 70 hours bi-weekly


Compensation and Incentives:

$ $21.90 hourly
