Production Associate II - Entranceway Hanger/Astragal Assembly

(1 Days & 1 Afternoons)

PURPOSE:

The incumbent of this position will be responsible to rotate between the Astragal Assembly and the Entranceway Hanger position.

The Entranceway Hanger position isresponsible for the pre-hanging of entranceway door slabs into a frame, along with any finish work required as per customer request.

Being the final process prior to shipping to the end customer, attention to detail and the ability to trouble shoot issues on the fly is critical in order to ensure a positive customer interaction with Andersen.


PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Work in a safe manner and follow safe work practices and policies.
  • Help ensure coworkers are working safely and following safety requirements.
  • Follow all applicable procedures, Standardized Work, Control Plans, and Product Specifications.
  • Interpret customer requirements based on production paperwork and CAD drawings.
  • Prepare door slabs for installation.
  • Machine frame for any additional hardware requirements.
  • Install doors, sidelites, and transoms into frame. Cut, assemble, and install astragals onto the door. Cut and install any customer requested accessories.
  • Assist in identifying training needs and propose ideas to improve quality metrics.
  • Learn, understand and implement Andersen Management Systems (AMS) and continuous improvement concepts.
  • Support and participate in Employee Engagement activities.
  • Follow defined cleanup times.
  • Engage in crosstraining to maintain flexibility and adaptability to support resource planning.
  • Work to an established rate as defined by customer demand and Standardized Work.
  • Operate manufacturing equipment and use hand tools as required.
  • Participate in defining and improving standard work.
  • Identify problems; communicate issues to Work Center Leads and Supervisors.
  • Assist with training coworkers.
  • Support a respectful workplace.
  • Perform other duties across the plant as needed as directed by supervision or management.

QUALIFICATION AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:


  • Solid knowledge of woodworking practices and machining techniques.
  • Proficient with various pneumatic hand tools, chop saws, and routers.
  • Possess strong organizational, analytical and problemsolving skills.
  • Demonstrate a sense of urgency to complete work on schedule.
  • Proven ability to understand and adhere to all process controls as documented (SWDs, JBAs, CPs).
  • Ability to read and understand reports and a willingness to cross train on several operations.
  • Possess communication, teamwork, problem solving, and leadership skills.
  • Dependability/punctuality.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Ability to interpret drawings and dimensions.
  • Demonstrates a positive attitude with the ability to interact effectively with other departments.

6% shift premium (afternoon shift only)
