easily accessible in Midtown Toronto (849 Eglinton Ave East, Toronto, ON M4G 2L5)

FUTURE LOCATION: Etobicoke (Queensway), where we are building a new, state-of-the-art Mercedes-Benz dealership, opening in 2023, as an experience destination with cutting-edge architecture with advanced technologies. The 95,900-square-foot facility will occupy a 6-acre site at the southeast corner of The Queensway and The East Mall.

About the opportunity
As an integral part of the "we can do that" operation, this position is responsible for overseeing vehicle maintenance and repairs


Specifically:
- responsible for the day-to-day activities of the service repair department, including hiring/firing, managing, coaching and training of assigned staff
- ensure that customer service needs are met and vehicles are repaired correctly
- supervise repair procedures and assist Mechanics / Technicians, Apprentices and Service Advisors to resolve difficult repair problems
- notify Service Advisors of work delays and additional repair operations required
- review all comebacks and initiate measures to avoid repeats
- take measures to improve efficiency, such as motivating staff, streamlining the flow of work, implementing innovative methods, modifying working conditions, etc
- operate the control tower during the absence of the Control Tower Operator
- ensure high quality of conduct and workmanship from Technicians and Apprentices
- monitor quality control by spot-checking repairs, either in the shop or during road tests
- ensure all Technicians and Apprentices are trained to manufacturer requirements and informed of all related manufacturer recalls, technical bulletins, etc
- ensure that shop equipment, special tool inventory and shop manuals are complete and in safe operating condition, and report any missing tools, equipment or manuals to the Service Manager immediately


About you
- valid 310S Automotive Technician License
- valid Ontario driver's license and a clear driving record

  • 510 years experience inspecting, diagnosing and repairing vehicles, preferably luxury manufacturer vehicles
- at least four (4) years experience work as a Shop Foreman
- proficiency working with ERP systems (ie. CDK, One-Eighty)
- ability to adapt to a changing environment and meet deadlines
- ability to learn new technologies and processes
- strong attention to detail, organized and strategic
- effectively manager staff including training and motivating
- strong aptitude for technical/mechanical repairs
- good time management skills
- ability to work independently and with mínimal supervision
- self-motivated and driven with a passion for excellence in execution
- a desire to work in a high energy, fast-paced environment
- a proven commitment to quality of work
- must be a resident of Canada, and legally permitted to work
