Our Health and Safety team is looking for an
Ergonomics Specialist.

Reporting to the Manager, Corporate Health and Safety, you will be responsible for using your expertise to create awareness and foster a strong culture around Health, Safety, & Ergonomics.

In addition, you will develop a national program for all Dealer Support Centers to minimize Musculoskeletal Injuries at Home Hardware and provide support for additional programs related to our Health and Safety Management Systems (HSMS) and programs.

What you'll do:


  • Create and implement a Musculoskeletal Injury/Disorder Prevention Program for all Home Hardware Corporate/Distribution Centre sites.
  • Collaborate with Team Members and Leaders to complete ergonomic risk assessments in Distribution and Manufacturing and recommend solutions to identified risks.
  • Conduct ergonomic assessments of individual office workstations to identify potential risks and hazards and recommend solutions.
  • Conduct Physical/Cognitive Demands Analyses for specific jobs and write reports.
  • Analyze data collected from ergonomic assessments to identify trends and areas for improvement.
  • Assist in the development and delivery of awareness and training programs related to Ergonomics and Health and Safety.
  • Stay up to date on the latest ergonomic research and developments.
  • Participate in workplace design projects to ensure that ergonomic principles are considered.
  • Facilitate HSMS projects and related duties as assigned by the Corporate Health and Safety Manager.

What we're looking for:


  • Bachelor's Degree in Kinesiology, Ergonomics, or related field with 1 to 2 years of related experience.
  • Indepth knowledge of Ergonomics and Health and Safety standards/procedures would be considered a strong asset.
  • Selfmotivated individual who can work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Ability to interact with all levels of leadership in a professional manner.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage tasks of varying priority.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Experience with project management would be considered an asset.
  • Working towards the Canadian Certified Professional Ergonomist (CCPE) or Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) designation would be considered an asset.
  • Ability to travel on occasion to visit other Home Hardware Corporate/Distribution sites.
