Seasonal Landscaper

Your Opportunity:

Reporting to the Supervisor of Facility Operations, the Seasonal Landscaper will be
responsible for field maintenance (baseball & soccer fields) and assisting in the upkeep
of other parks and play areas, including our trails and nature reserves. This position will
also be responsible for other duties as required, such as facility upkeep and event
support.

The role should appeal to an individual that takes pride in their work and enjoys being
outside. Successful applicants will have experience in the landscaping trade, including
natural turf maintenance, gardening, small equipment operations (small tractors &

attachments), raking, grading, surface preparations, and general greenspace
establishment and upkeep.

Conditions will include working both as part of a team, and independently.


Qualifications:
-

Valid driver's license

  • Valid WHMIS certificate (or be willing to obtain one)
  • Valid First Aid certification (or be willing to obtain one)
  • Have a grade 12 or GED equivalent
  • Knowledge and experience of the materials, practices, procedures and
equipment used for greenspace maintenance and landscaping operations


The following experience would be considered an asset: -
Landscaping certifications or extensive experience

  • Sport field maintenance experience
  • Tractor & attachment operation experience
  • Turf and soil knowledge
  • Knowledge of landscaping equipment, and required maintenance
duties and help maintain a positive teamwork environment within the workplace.


Work Status:

Full time seasonal employment based on an 8-month term: April-November.

Potential part time hours available December-March, including:

  • snow removal
- large maintenance projects
- and arena operator shift fill in/support


Hours of Work:

40 hours per week - Monday-Friday, 8:00am-4:30pm.
Some evening and weekend hours as needed.
Overtime eligible after 40 hours.


Salary:
$24.28/hourly


Work Location:
The Park Shed at 127 Park Street will be your home base. You
will be maintaining spaces throughout Memorial Park and at times, various satellite
parks and facilities throughout Kentville, including Oakdene Park and Centennial
Arena. Your work location will vary day by day.
