Hurontario Light Rail Transit Project


The Hurontario Light Rail Transit Project (HuLRT) will transform the way people in Brampton and Mississauga live, work, and move.

Rapid transit covering 18 km in a dedicated right-of-way, with 18 at-grade stops and one underground station means a greener future and more choices for transit riders, drivers, cyclists, and pedestrians.

**DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Hiring, Training & Supervision

  • Coordinate, schedule and support the program activities in accordance with the Program guidelines/agreement
  • Along with the Manager of Career and Newcomer Services recruit, interview and hire program staff
  • Work with Manager and funder to deliver orientation event which will include preemployment workshops; career exploration/identification, employment preparation, life skills, employment related skills and job retention and canvassing best practices
  • Provide direct formal and informal coaching/supervision/performance management for program employees

Customer Service & Community Relations

  • Establish new and maintain existing professional collaborative relationships with key community stakeholders, including youth networks to support recruitment
  • Professionally represent the ACHEV with businesses, local residents, community organizations and networks
  • Act as contact person to resolve escalated customer service issues

Contract Management & Final Reporting

  • Ensure all contract expectations and program targets are achieved;
  • Work with the Manager, Career and Newcomer Service to establish budgets and manage site cash flow in accordance with organizational and program guidelines
  • Prepare Reports for submission to Manager, Career and Newcomer Services
  • Ensure consistent communication with Manager, Career and Newcomer Services with regards to the program performance
  • Monitor, manage and track expenditure of employee wages, and other program expenses in accordance with budget allocations. Liaise with HR and Finance teams to coordinate.
  • Generate final report to funder
  • Travel throughout Brampton/Mississauga required
  • Other duties, as required

QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Postsecondary degree or diploma in business or social services or extensive related work experience
  • Several years previous experience working directly with youth, including those that are newcomers, from low income families or visible minorities providing community services, facilitating workshops and one to one counselling
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a fast paced environment that meets outcomes while juggling multiple priorities to get results
  • Specific experience delivering workshops on life skills, employability/essential skills, leadership development to newcomer youth years)
  • Demonstrated knowledge and ability in providing coaching to youth facing barriers and motivating youth to develop a plan of action
  • Ability to organize and lead group workshops and coordinate activities
  • Ability to communicate effectively with staff, community partners and youth
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Volunteer placement coordination and event management experience would be considered an asset
  • Experience motivating and supervising staff
  • Must have own vehicle and be willing to travel (travel reimbursement) throughout the Peel Region
