SMS Equipment, our
Facility Maintenance Technician is responsible for ensuring that the Acheson buildings, grounds and common areas are kept clean, organized and in good repair.
The
Facility Maintenance Technician
will facilitate repair and maintenance to the premises as required and ensure that tasks are completed in a safe and efficient manner.
$70,000 - $75,000.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
General Maintenance of Facility. Trouble shoot and performs work relating to upkeep of facility including completing basic repairs for plumbing, electrical, painting, doors, locks, fencing, flooring, roofing, furniture and signage. Coordinates contractors for complex repairs, monitors their on-site activities and all inspections and preventative maintenance
General Maintenance of Yard. Ensuring the grounds, common areas and buildings are kept in a clean, orderly manner. Coordinate contractors for landscaping, snow removal, garbage removal, parking lot maintenance, grading and drainage. Arrange and complete inspections of all building systems in and around the facility.
Administration. Review FLRA cards and safety expectations with contractors working in the facility
. Inspect and report on items on the daily, weekly and monthly inspection sheets. Work with the Purchasing Department to ensure contracts for building maintenance, such as elevators, snow clearing, HVAC, etc. are current and cost effective. Perform Site Orientations for contractors upon their arrival on site.
Qualifications:
- Ability to troubleshoot building system issues across multiple trade fields.
- Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- 3rd/4th apprentice or journeyperson in a relatable trade is an asset.
- General understanding of all facilities operations, including but not limited to HVAC, compressors, plumbing, electrical, landscaping,
- Agility, adaptability and patience to manage shortnotice requests in a highly reactive work environment.
- Ability to read and interpret technical building drawings.
- Ability to make sound decisions under pressure, with a focus on problem solving and providing solutions.
- Knowledge of the Occupational Health & Safety Act, including WHMIS
- Valid Class 5 Drivers License.
