Reporting to the Manager, Volunteer & Community Relations, the Volunteer Resources Coordinator is responsible to provide coordination and administration of volunteer resources (Partners At Work program) to support the efficient delivery of programs and services for the Oshawa Senior Community Centres 55+ (OSCC55+).

This includes the planning, implementation, coordination, and administration of the volunteer program, fostering volunteer engagement within the Centres, promoting volunteerism in the community, maintenance of confidential volunteer files and volunteer database.


Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and administer the volunteer resources program for the Oshawa Senior Community Centres 55+ (OSCC55+), including planning, recruitment, screening, training, and placement and engagement of volunteers.
  • Schedule and conduct volunteer interviews, match volunteer skills sets to volunteer opportunity placements, communicate volunteer referrals and volunteer program activities to program and service staff.
  • Organize and facilitate recognition initiatives and events, such as Volunteer Month and National Volunteer Week, while maintaining accurate volunteer hours records.
  • Maintain the volunteer database, including confidential files, statistical reports, hours entries, certification tracking and recertification deadlines.
  • Establish and nurture partnerships with community agencies and organizations to recruit and engage volunteers.
  • Provide training and technical support on volunteer tech hubs and online logging systems for efficient use by volunteers and staff.

Requirements:


  • 2Year postsecondary diploma from a recognized college/university in social services, human resource management, gerontology or a relevant combination of education and experience; plus a Volunteer Management Certificate. CVA (Certified Volunteer Administration) accreditation an asset.
  • Two (2) years' of experience working with volunteers; one year experience working with seniors.
  • Current Certification in Standard First Aid, CPR (Level C), and AED or be willing to obtain and maintain.
  • Ability to work independently and multitask in an environment with frequent interruptions; possess personal qualities of tact, confidentiality, diplomacy and patience
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills to deal effectively with volunteers, and internal/external customers
  • Ability to work evenings and/or weekends as scheduled
