Reports to:
Production Manager


Purpose:


Reporting directly to the Production Manager, the Shift Supervisor will oversee and be responsible for the effective, efficient, and safe operation of the Production departments.

The successful incumbent will also support and participate with the Production Management Team to focus on continuously improving processes and efficiencies within the operation.


Key Accountabilities:


  • Responsible for the overall effectiveness of the plant operations during your shift; this is a 'handson' position that directly supervises all shift staff, including training, planning workloads / develop production schedules and disciplining where required. Emphasis is on time spent on the floor directly supervising to meet organization goals.
  • Work closely with the production staff in the areas of sanitation, hygiene, GMP's and other necessary qualityrelated training.
  • Work towards Process Excellence & Lean Manufacture endeavors of the organization.
  • Responsible for employees' hours & updating Dayforce (time keeping) system.
  • Maintain Production PM Programs, generated daily operating, shrinkage & efficiency reports as well as daily / weekly production maps.
  • Validate all production records.
  • Develop a cooperative team approach in the Production Department and work closely with Production Planners, Production Administration, Maintenance, Distribution, Quality Control and Plant Management.
  • Champion and enforce Health & Safety, proactive approach to prevent accidents in the plant.
  • Provide flexible shift coverage & work overtime hours when required and weekend coverage on a rotational basis.
  • Other projects as assigned by management.

Qualifications & Competencies:


  • Minimum five (3) years of handson supervisory experience is an asset.
  • Previous work experience in a food industry is considered an asset but not required
  • Knowledge of GMPs, including excellent sanitary habits and possess knowledge of HACCP is not required but considered an asset
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent organizational and problemsolving skills.
  • Solid analytical skills with knowledge of process improvement techniques
  • Accurate when working with calculations
  • Superior organizational skills with the ability to work in a fastpaced environment with changing priorities on a daily basis.
  • Must be comfortable to oversee 515 employee at any given time
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Must be flexible in terms of shift work and perform other duties as required
  • Strong computer skills, including Windows and MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)

Working Environment:


  • General office and regular interruptions with exposure to noise. Regular exposure to dust, extreme temperatures, odour, humidity, dry conditions, chemical substances, heights, hazardous machines and moving objects.

Physical Demands:


  • Standing, walking, and sitting for a considerable length of time. Crouching, working in confined spaces, climbing stairs and working in awkward positions at moderate lengths of time.
