Social Worker III - Grief Support.

As part of Alberta Children's Hospital (ACH) site wide Social Work Service this position provides advanced-level clinical assessment and intervention to patients and families.

Within the context of family centered care, the Social Worker III will provide collaborative /shared leadership in the areas of team functioning and clinical consultation within the inter-professional health care team, including a range of service providers.

The Social Worker III provides quality patient care in accordance with the Social Work Standards of Practice and Code of Ethics, evidence
- based practice and program guidelines. The role includes direct advanced clinical practice, including individual and couple counselling and group facilitation, as well as providing education to health care professionals, program development, community consultation, supervision and research in the provision of palliative and bereavement. The applicant must have advanced knowledge and skills in grief and bereavement, including anticipatory, child/teen and sibling grief, parental bereavement and trauma. They must demonstrate strong leadership ability and have the capacity to perform with a high level of independence.


Description:

As a Social Worker III, you will perform either advanced level assessment and treatment or act as a clinical lead.

You will work with or within teams to provide health care services for patients with complex and multidimensional medical, psychosocial, environmental and instrumental needs.

You will provide advanced clinical services, consultation to the interprofessional team and patients/families and supervision of students and team members as assigned.

You may also act as a clinical lead providing leadership in the planning, development, and delivery of services in a specific area, as well as staff development, quality improvement and evaluation or research activities as identified by the needs of the service area(s).

Required Qualifications:

Master's degree in Social Work. Active or eligible for registration with the Alberta College of Social Workers (ACSW).


Additional Required Qualifications:

At least 5 years of experience related to Pediatric Palliative Care and Bereavement required.

Experience and advanced skills and training in crisis intervention/trauma therapy/ bereavement counselling with individuals and families facing chronic, critical, life-limiting illness, suicide and death.

Formal training in trauma interventions required. Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team required.

Must exhibit a high level of self-awareness regarding death and dying experiences and demonstrate a respect for, and understanding of, individual differences in coping strategies.

BCLS-HCP required.


Preferred Qualifications:

Demonstrated ability to work within a self-directed environment with mínimal supervision. Ability to perform all duties in accordance with related legislation. Computer proficiency with knowledge of Connect Care an asset.
