Description

Under the direction of the Recreation Therapist Coordinator, the Volunteer Coordinator develops and implements a volunteer program by recruiting, interviewing, orientating, training and supervising as well as evaluating volunteers.

They work closely with the Activities Coordinator to connect and create partnerships in the community to spread awareness of the vision, mission, and values of Tabor Village.

They coordinate volunteer requirements and placements. This would include policy making, record keeping and designing of volunteer positions.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Develops partnerships with multiple community partners, churches and local business to communicate volunteer opportunities and develop relationships
  • Works closely with the directors of Care, HR, Support Services, Maintenance and Recreation Therapist Coordinator to create volunteer opportunities within their departments
  • Promote volunteering externally in the community through recruitment, publicity strategies, and campaigns
  • Actively raising staff awareness of the role and the function of volunteers, connecting volunteers to staff needs and requests
  • Generate appropriate volunteering opportunities and role descriptions based on the needs of the organization
  • Interview and recruit volunteers and ensure they are appropriately matched and trained for a position.
  • Provide continual support for onboarded volunteers and ensure training for volunteers is obtained
  • Motivating, supporting, monitoring and accrediting volunteers for the works they have accomplished through celebratory events and awards
  • Research and write volunteer policies and procedures, including risk assessments
  • Keep up to date with legislation and policy related to volunteering and make any necessary modifications to accommodate changes
  • Participate in grant writing initiatives to raise funds for organization wide campaigns.
  • Work with the Director of Finance to create and maintain a budget for the organization
  • Monitor and evaluate volunteer activities and write reports
  • Attend relevant committees and meetings as needed, maintaining applicable databases and undertaking any other administrative duties.
  • Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION & QUALIFICATIONS:

Grade 12.

Certificate in volunteer management with a minimum of 2 years of experience in volunteer management preferable

Working knowledge of social media (Facebook, Instagram and etc.)

Practicing knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel is an asset

SALARY
- $26.00/hr

$28.93 per hour

Expected hours: 22.5 per week
