Overview

  • Lafarge Canada Inc., a leading manufacturer and supplier of quality products for the construction industry. We currently have an exciting new opportunity for a permanent, fulltime position at our Regina Cement Terminal as a Terminal Assistant.

Responsibilities:


  • Actively participate in and operate within the terminal Safety Program in compliance with Lafarge Canada Inc's and mandatory safety and environmental policies
Unload bulk railcars and load bulk semi-trucks
Operation and daily maintenance of rail unloading and bulk truck loading equipment
Operate a forklift to load and unload packaged cement
General labour related duties and cleanup
Supervise and direct contractors on site, when required
Supervision and direction of truck/railway carriers' activities on site
Participate in shared inventory control
Terminal Housekeeping
Other associated duties that the employee is trained in-house or by requirement for
Ability to work overtime and willing to work shift work if required.


Qualifications:


Education:


  • High school graduate or G.E.D. equivalent with postsecondary/trade school completion or classes an asset

Experience and Skill Set:


  • High school diploma or equivalent with postsecondary/trade school completion/classes an asset
Demonstrates commitment to safety for oneself and others
Mechanical aptitude and understanding a key attribute
Time and self-management skills as part of a team or independently
Physically fit to encompass labor requirements of role
Demonstrate strong skills in problem solving, decision making and multi-tasking

Computer literacy/ability:
including Excel, Word programs a benefit
Valid class 5 driver's license
Understanding of building materials industry, including cement product knowledge an asset
