  • Join a team of forward thinking, enthusiastic, resultsdriven and collaborative professionals. To support our mission we are currently seeking an experienced Planner to join our team in Vancouver.

The role will require but not be limited to:


  • Prepare documents in accordance with company templates, procedures, and processes.
  • Review proposal documentation to determine scope of work, battery limits, construction methodologies and bill of materials
  • Fully understand the client's and subcontractors' reporting requirements and ensure the program level of detail and structure supports this
  • Development of Work Breakdown Structures to support Sedgman standards and clients requirements
  • Establish the project program and supporting documentation for each aspect of the project including design, procurement, construction, and commissioning
  • Identify resource requirements and incorporate into program
  • Analysis of Critical Path activities
  • Conduct Schedule Risk Analysis as required, identifying options for corrective action
  • Conduct team program review sessions
  • Peer review programs and provide guidance and advice to team members on planning best practice
  • Review, critique and approve subcontractor programs to ensure they meet the required standards and milestones
  • Integration of subcontractors', suppliers', and service providers' programs into the overall program
  • Review schedules and ensure that Sedgman standard structure, codes, activity Id's, calendars, naming conventions, layouts, linking philosophy, and resources are used.
  • Measure, monitor, and manage updates of project progress and advise corrective action as required
  • Plan and advise team of upcoming tasks
  • Deliver timely, accurate and appropriate project reporting including forecasting and S-Curves
  • Assess and report on internally and externally driven changes to project scope and potential impact on the project including budget, time, and resources
  • Coordinate design activities and progress with the Lead Engineers and Design Manager
  • Review procurement and expediting activities with the Procurement Team
  • Assist in setup of site tracking (E7/construction tracking sheets) including the distribution of budget hours and development of construction progress tracking metrics/rules of credit
  • As required, assist in interfacing E7, P6 progress, Cost Controls and forecast data and associated reporting.
  • Review and recommend any changes to the planning sections of Project Management Plans
  • Participate in the internal, subcontractor, and Client meetings as required
  • Ensure that internal processes are followed including document management control systems
  • Ensure checking and review processes are completed
  • Be proactive and have the ability to work alone
  • Achieve buy in of other team members and business units
  • To provide sitebased support as required by the project
  • Develop and maintain relationships with new and existing clients and subcontractors
  • Ensure all documentation is auditable and correctly named, indexed, and filed in accordance with Sedgman corporate policies and procedures
  • Be flexible and adapt to the requirements of the project
  • Ensure the appropriate detail, logic, templates, and procedures are used
  • Manage and control multiple complex projects
  • Lead in the development of ongoing Project Controls process improvements to incorporate current best practice
  • Promote Project Controls' profile within Sedgman by identifying project risk, opportunities and adding strategic value to projects.

What are we looking for

Qualifications:


  • Tertiary qualification or equivalent in a related discipline.

Essential skills, knowledge and experience:


  • 10+ years Project Planner experience within in the Mining, Construction, and Oil & Gas industry
  • 5+ years of practical sitebased experience
  • Proficiency in the use of SAP, Primavera P6 and Microsoft Project (Other planning software or ERP JDE would be considered)
  • Detailed reporting experience, including Earned Value Analysis and Risk Analysis
  • High attention to detail and strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to effectively manage self and others time, priorities, and activities
  • Provide site support as required by the project.

Desired skills, knowledge and experience:

PMI-SP Certification.
