Position Summary

  • Delivery and pickup of supplies, medications, paperwork, and equipment to all areas of the hospital as required.
  • Deliveries and pickups must be carried out in a quiet, orderly manner to ensure the minimum inconvenience to staff, patients, and visitors.
  • Carry Porter Phone and respond to service requests in a timely manner.
  • Follow specific details and times of duties, where applicable, as posted on the Materials Management duties list.
  • Assist other Porters as required.
  • Carry out special duties, as detailed by the Integrated Director Materials Management.
  • Participate in inventory control activities such as counting, data entry, order picking and cycle counts as required.
  • Participates in annual year end inventory counts as required.
  • Inventory and maintenance of a Top Up supply area carts within hospital.
  • Liaise with Clinical staff with regards to medical supplies, inventory levels and delivery of goods and materials.

Qualifications:


  • Ontario Secondary School Graduation Diploma or equivalent.
  • Some knowledge of medical supplies is required.
  • Must be detailed oriented with proven organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to liaise with staff, patients, and visitors, in an efficient and congenial manner with a commitment to providing a high level of customer service.
  • Must be reliable, punctual, and maintain a good attendance record.
  • Must be attuned to the special requirements of a hospital environment.
  • Ability to walk for extended periods of time is essential.
  • Ability to work independently under minimum supervision, particularly on extended shifts and weekends.
  • Demonstrates commitment to continued professional and personal growth and development through Continuing Education Programs and Self Directed Learning Opportunities.
