What you will do:


Reporting to the Manager, Work-Integrated Learning in the Faculty of Media & Creative Arts (FMCA), the Career and Work Integrated Learning Advisor is responsible for providing administrative support for all Work-Integrated Learning (WIL) activity in the FMCA.

They will work closely with faculty, employers, and other stakeholders to develop and implement strategies that support the professional development and program completion of students through WIL programing.


The incumbent will conduct outreach to potential industry partners, provide guidance to Industry Liaisons, schedule students to appropriate WIL courses, support students in preparing for Field Experiences, monitor the quality of Professional Practice and Field Experience courses and implement, organize, and oversee course completion for all students.

They will advise students about career-related matters by providing options and consequences for program progression depending upon individual circumstances.

The incumbent will support and assist with the design, development and delivery of Professional Practice courses including the creation of career-related resource materials, in-person or online educational and instructional workshops, advising students on how to conduct job searches, cover letter and resume development, and overseeing student learning plans and assessment.


The Career and Work-Integrated Learning Advisor will plan, support and participate in special events in collaboration with internal stakeholders to establish links between employers, students, professional bodies and relevant industry to contribute to the overall successful acquisition of Field Experiences of students within their respective programs.


What you bring to the role:


Education:

Bachelor's degree in a related field such as career counseling, education, arts or media

Incumbent will have one of the following certifications (or equivalent): Certified Work-Integrated Learning Professional (CWLP), Career Development Facilitator (CDF) or Certified Career Development Practitioner (CCDP)


Experience & Skills:


Three (3) to five (5) years of experience in career counseling, career development, or work-integrated learning; strong knowledge of career development theories and strategies.

Experience with student advising and programming in the post-secondary sector.
