General Accountability:


  • The Development Coordinator will be assisting the Director
  • Office and Operational Space in various activities relating to TTC's property assets, property and development transactions, various legal agreements, and leases

Key Job Functions:


  • Provide financial and policy analysis on options/approaches to property use and/or disposition
  • Support implementation of strategies to review and determine current and future needs for office and operational space across various TTC client departments.
  • Manage an agreement portfolio; negotiate, prepare and amend as required. Agreements may include property lease, lease extensions, lease renewal, construction, operating/maintenance, etc.
  • Manage the disposition of the TTC's property assets in a proactive, resultsoriented fashion.
  • Manage negotiations from development concept to the execution of agreements.
  • Obtain necessary cost estimates for TTC work directly related to development projects or agreements, for discussion with various parties. Approve associated invoices.
  • Conduct site reviews of existing and new developments to monitor and ensure compliance with legal agreements, approved drawings and specifications.
  • Liaise with the City of Toronto regarding TTC facilities and operations.
  • Assist in the preparation of the Department's operating and capital budgets as related to work.
  • Attend working committees and represent the TTC regarding property agreement requirements.
  • Provide TTC requirements, analysis of impact, etc. into property negotiations undertaken by the City of Toronto in conjunction with TTC, regarding owned or occupied property.
  • Demonstrates behaviours that support diversity, inclusion, and a respectful work and service environment that is free from discrimination and harassment.     Education and Experience:
  • Completion of a post-secondary college diploma or university degree in a related discipline (e.g. Business Administration, Architecture, Engineering, Planning/Development), with additional courses in real estate, appraisals, negotiations and/or conflict resolution and directly related experience in the property industry, or a combination of education, training and experience deemed to be equivalent.

Additional Requirements:


  • Ability to read and understand conceptual architectural and engineering drawings, combined with a general knowledge of office and operational space design, common planning, engineering and construction practices.
  • Thorough knowledge of property negotiations and leases.
  • Ability to lead complex negotiations with mínimal supervision, and ability to resolve conflicts of a legal and/or technical nature.
  • Attend working committees and meetings, representing the TTC's property interests, as directed by the Director.
  • Prepare various reports, presentations, etc. relating to area of responsibility.
  • Excellent interpersonal, customer focus, oral and written communication, and teamwork skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
