Principal Tasks

  • Program development for yearround youth woodworking programming
  • Woodworking program facilitation and youth mentorship
  • Coordinate social enterprise activities, including product development, workshops and facility rentals
  • Develop safety protocols and conduct safety training for all users of the woodworking studio
  • Maintain professional standards and certifications required for operation of the woodworking studio
  • Build partnerships with outside community groups, businesses and institutions to help bridge youth to further employment and educational opportunities
  • Transportation of youth program participants in 15passenger van as needed
  • Support the delivery of other farm programming including horticultural activities and kitchen programs as needed
  • Support fund development for the ongoing operations of the woodworking studio
  • Deliver public programs
  • Train and supervise woodworking volunteers

Qualifications

  • Excellent problem solving and communication skills
  • Must be passionate about mentoring/teaching youth from diverse cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds
  • Must be adaptable, understanding and patient
  • Must have enthusiasm and motivation in program planning and curriculum development
  • Must be willing to collaborate with other FortWhyte Alive staff to achieve overall goals of FortWhyte Farms' programming and FWA mission
  • Familiarity with the social enterprise model and ability to plan revenuegenerating activities
  • Experience with grant writing and reporting is an asset
  • Class 4 driver's license is an asset and will be required upon employment
