Seneca Polytechnic is looking for a Director, Communications to play an important leadership role on a dynamic communications team.


The Director, Communications plays a pivotal role in shaping Seneca Polytechnic's internal and external communications strategy, helping communicate to our various audiences and on different channels.

  • Can operate at different levels from 10,000 feet strategic to immersing yourself in the details.
  • Can handle multiple demands on their time and is solutionsoriented and inventive.
  • Has a solid understanding of the Canadian media landscape.
  • Is friendly, fun, strategic, confident, engaging, creative.
  • Thrives on building successful relationships.
  • And, most importantly, has a passion for education and helping students succeed.

Here's some of what your role will involve:


  • Playing a senior leadership role on the Marketing and Communications team.
  • Leading a terrific team of communication experts, supporting them to be their best strategic selves.
  • Crafting integrated marketing and communications strategies to build engagement with all the audiences we care about: students, employees, alumni, Board of Governors, industry, government.
  • Leading a robust and proactive issues management program to ensure our brand is always protected and we're ready for any issue the comes our way.
  • Providing high touch communications support to our senior leadership at Seneca.
  • Driving a creative, high volume, proactive external communications strategy finding the right media opportunities to tell our #SenecaProud stories.
  • Providing leadership, strategic guidance, process improvements and datadriven planning.

What you bring to Seneca:


  • You have a degree in journalism or communications.
  • You have deep experience ideally, 9+ years in the communications realm, and are highly skilled in both internal and external communications, strategic communications planning, writing and editing, crisis communications, and beyond.
  • You have strong leadership experience and have worked closely with senior stakeholders.
  • You work extremely well with people all people.
