Scheduled Shifts: 2:00pm-6:00pm, Monday-Friday (with opportunity for 8 hour shifts on school closures i.e. summer Break)
Hours: 20 hours per week

Westshore Club: 345 Wale Rd,
Millstream Club: 626 Hoylake Road
Crystal View Club: 2662 Silverstone Way
Metchosin Club: 3900 Metchosin Road

Position Summary
The Child & Youth Care Worker (CYCW) is a crucial part of a collaborative team that engage in relationship-building and behavior management for children and youth aged 5-12 within our Licensed Care Programs.
Child and Youth Care Workers work directly with the children in our club locations to run and facilitate after school programs, and are responsible for creating safe, supportive environments and spaces for all the children within the program.
CYCW's do this in align with our Core Values, as well as licensing and CARF accreditation standards and BGC policies and procedures.
CYCW's inspire children in our licensed after-school program while delivering creative and developmentally-appropriate nature based programming, and engage children and youth in program activities using a play-based and recreational approach.
CYCW's use a strengths based approach, focusing on what each child CAN do to build their capacity and capabilities CYCW's are supported in their group facilitation by Team Leaders and Child Support Workers in a collaborative team that creates an impactful and important environment and community for all participants.
BGCSVI supports practice through a trauma-informed lens, placing priority on participant, safety, choice, empowerment and skill development.Desired Qualifications
- Applicants must be 19 years or older as per licencing regulations
- Minimum of 20 hours of training or courses in one of the following areas: child development, guidance, health and safety, or nutrition
- Current Standard First Aid & CPR C certification (or willing to attain)
- Class 4 Driver's License an asset or ability to obtain
- Successful Criminal Record Check
- This position requires proof of double COVID19 vaccination
- Additional Consideration Will Be Given To Those Who Have:_
- A minimum oneyear experience working with children and youth ages 512 (camp or licensed child care setting an asset)
- Relevant Post-Secondary Degree in Recreation, Education, Child & Youth Care, Social Work or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Positive Behavior Support Knowledge
- A demonstrated ability to implement daily activities and events for children in an exciting and engaging manner
- A demonstrated experience in relationship building and working with diverse family systems
- The ability to effectively communicate within a team setting
