LOCATION SETTING:
2 positions - NCNS Liverpool Regional Office & NCNS Truro Regional Office


Reporting directly to the NCNS Housing Officer, the Administrative Support Clerk will perform a variety of functions to best support the Rural and Native Housing Group the assigned NCNS office location.

The position will be required to both undertake direction and work intuitively to support the program's goals and objective in a professional and culturally appropriate manner.


The Administrative Support Clerk is also responsible to ensure that administrative procedures are followed and communication with the public is carried out in a professional and courteous manner.


Given the nature of work and the multiple actions associated with Rural and Native Housing Group and its service delivery, there will be very sensitive information gathered in an array of formats, any breach of confidentiality would be deemed as just cause for immediate dismissal.


TYPICAL DUTIES:

  • Efficient and effective discharge of all incoming and outgoing communications in all forms, as well as providing support as delegated.
  • Handles office interactions with outside visitors, this includes greeting and directing guests and clients of our services;
  • Answering phone inquiries and handling requests or complaints in a professional manner;
  • Maintain all files and forms related to Rural and Native Housing Group.
  • Order supplies, schedule meetings, distribute reports/mail
  • Respond to routine information requests about the services and work of Rural and Native Housing Group.
  • Participate in meetings as requested. Take minutes and type same for distribution.
  • Understands and adhere to NCNS policies and procedures; and
  • Any other duties and tasks as required.

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Administrative Assistant diploma or related certificate with a minimum of 6 months experience in a similar position;
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills;
  • Knowledge, respect and sensitivity to Indigenous culture.
  • Knowledge of offreserve Indigenous people is an asset.
  • Must possess strong organizational, evaluation and problem solving skills;
  • Must be able to communicate effectively in writing and verbally;
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Excel and Presentations and willingness to learn other
  • Team player, willingness to learn and optimistic;
  • Clear child abuse registry check will be required upon job offer
  • Current and clear criminal record check upon job offer.

POSITION AND TERM:

  • Salary range: $ 32,000 to $34,000
  • Term position until March 31, 2024 with possibility of renewal
  • Hours of work are Monday to Friday 8:30 am to 4:30 pm with some nights and weekends as
required;
