Job SummaryResearch technician for the Mother Tree Project. Work includes literature research, creating databases, and lab work in the shared BEG labs on the Vancouver campus. 50% remote and 50% on campus (Forest Sciences Building).
Organizational Status
Conducts research activity with Dr. Simard, Jean Roach, and Dr. Simard's graduate students.
Work Performed
The research technician will enter data from field measurements into Excel with information from National Forest Inventory plots.
The research technician will create and maintain research related records and databases, entering data according to established protocols.
This will include performing basic literature research (searching for articles on-line).
Area of research includes literature on carbon and biodiversity studies in forests globally.
The employee will also carry out simple tests and measurements on in the lab, including molecular genetics and/or isotope facility labs.

Supervised by Dr. Suzanne Simard and Jean Roach.

None.
Minimum Qualifications
High school graduation and a minimum one year of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Willingness to respect diverse perspectives, including perspectives in conflict with one's own
- Demonstrates a commitment to enhancing one's own awareness, knowledge, and skills related to equity, diversity, and inclusion
Bachelor's degree in forestry. Interest and knowledge in carbon and biodiversity studies.
