The role is to work on Automation Software for hardware development testing.
You will be creating automation software to test a wide range of hardware specifications including the latest industry trends: 400G pluggable optics and Ciena's proprietary WL5e Line optics.
Duties and responsibilities:
- Add features to new automation framework using C#, Python and Java
- Use test equipment and the automation software to test and verify changes.
- Collect requirements from team members and specifications.
- Write various Excel VBA macros to simplify functions and to possibly import/export data as a database routine.
Required Skills / Qualifications:
- 1st 3rd year Computer Science or Engineering preferable
- Software programming experience Java, C#, Python, Microsoft.
- Optional programming knowledge: Java Script, , Git and Arduino controllers, Excel VBA
- Understanding of object oriented software development concepts
- Selfstarter, highly motivated with good interpersonal and communication skills
- Enthusiasm for software development and willingness to learn
- Experience using and interfacing to various test equipment using Ethernet and GPIB would be an asset

You will walk away from this experience with exposure to Telecommunications standards, Ciena's equipment portfolio and a variety of hardware test equipment such as: 10G-400G traffic generators, 10G-400G Optical Eye measurement, Jitter/wander generation and tolerant, Transient Power supplies, Thermo chambers, OSNRs, Optical amps, etc.
