Role


This position reports to the Director, Portfolio & Business Relationship Management, and works closely with IT and business groups to ensure projects are successfully planned, implemented and handed over to business operations.

This position will be responsible for interfacing with large cross functional teams and will need to demonstrate superior project management, communication, stakeholder and vendor management skills, and have sound knowledge of software implementation, business analysis, agile and waterfall Page 2 of 3 methodologies.

With input of the Project Steering Committee (PSC) this position will be responsible for managing day to day progress of all project scope dimensions.

Experience managing IT projects is required, experience managing cloud solutions is an asset but not required. Past experience in Business Analysis and/or Change Management is an asset, but not required.


Duties/Accountabilities:

  • Lead and deliver all aspects of the project lifecycle, ensuring quality and completeness of project delivery
  • Develop project charter and a plan for execution, including all other project documentation
  • Accountable for delivery of all in scope project activities; project plan, timeline, budget, scope, risks, issue, quality, staffing and any identified project constraints
  • Oversight of project team to ensure delivery of the stated project goals and objectives against the established measurement criteria; coordinating and managing team resource allocation, managing deliverables and schedules of project team members to ensure timely and quality delivery of project commitments
  • Chair Project Steering Committee (PSC), working group and subcommittee(s) (as required): preparing materials; sending out agendas, minutes etc. and facilitating discussions
  • Accountable point person for project delivery and communication, reporting on all project aspects, to all project stakeholders, including regular project status reports
  • Liaise with vendor and management of the vendor to contracted scope, cost and requirements to support project delivery, tracking vendor performance to meet project milestones; and report any variance or deviation from contract
  • Document and report on project level issues, decisions, dependencies and risks, facilitate resolution and escalation
  • Manage, plan and control cost, schedule, scope and create change requests and assess impact of proposed changes
  • Address challenges, including organizational, vendor, technical, documentation, budget logistics
  • Oversight of quality control, change management and business readiness requirements for the successful implementation of the project
  • Transition of new processes and systems to business operations, including the facilitation of business operational handoff activities and post implementation support
  • Perform project close (including the development of sustainment and knowledge transfer documentation), and facilitate the collection and documentation of lessons learned Page 3 of 3 Experience
Project Management: 10+ years managing large IT projects (required)

  • Government Experience (Asset but not mandatory) Capabilities
  • Experience leading and delivering enterprise level projects; business process management, solutions integration, packaged or cloud implementations
  • Technical mindset to lead cross functional teams, solid understanding of IT concepts
  • Demonstrated capability to drive deliverables under tight timelines in a complex and evolving organizational environment
  • Proficiency in project management software tools
  • Proven ability to complete projects according to outlined scope, budget and timeline
  • Proven relationship management, conflict management and leadership skills
  • Change management/business transformation experience in large organizations
  • Comfortable leading meetings and regularly communicating to project and business stakeholders
  • Excellent client facing (verbal and written) communications skills and interpersonal skills
  • Advanced time management and analytical skills
  • High degree of attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Selfstarter, achievement oriented, motivated and proven problemsolving abilities
Certification

  • Project Management Professional, PMP Certification (required)
Education

  • University Degree (preferred) or equivalent
  • Diploma in Information Systems or related field (Desired)
