What you'll do
- Process clinically reviewed and approved medication orders for distribution to a patient.
- Receive prescriptions (verbal and nonverbal) from practitioners and ensure that prescriptions are complete and authentic by performing duties such as verifying allergy status and/or demographics.
- Prepare and process prescriptions by performing duties such as entering orders, counting, measuring, packaging or repackaging medications and compounding various sterile pharmaceutical products, including hazardous drugs, according to established procedures. Prepackage oral, liquid and topical medications into unitofuse format.
- Ensure the accuracy and completeness of dispensed prescriptions prepared by self or others by verifying order entries, and/or performing the final check of dispensed prescriptions.
- Enter and ensure the accuracy and completeness of drug and personal health information in the pharmacy information system.
What you bring
Qualifications:
- Current registration as a Pharmacy Technician with the College of Pharmacists of British Columbia
You have:
- Communicates effectively both verbally and in writing; interacts in a positive manner with others, including staff/physicians across the agency
- Approaches daily work in an organized and efficient manner; sets appropriate priorities
- Physically carry out the duties of the position and operate related equipment
- Strong keyboard skills
- Awareness of and commitment to learning and understanding the Truth & Reconciliation Commission's 94 Calls to Action (2015), In Plain Sight Report (2020), BC's Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act (2019), and other related reports.
- Commitment to upholding the shared responsibility of creating lasting and meaningful reconciliation in Canada as per TRC and BC's Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act
