Reporting directly to the Sanitation Manager, the
Sanitation Coordinator is responsible for effectively implementing the cleaning and sanitization of processing equipment, utensils, and the entire plant environment.

In this role, you will be responsible for the effective execution of the sanitation program under the guidance of the Sanitation Manager.

You will, on a daily basis, oversee and manage the activities and effectiveness of the third-party sanitation team.

You will strive for continuous improvement by analyzing sanitation performance metrics, determining root causes, and implementing effective corrective actions to meet safety and product quality standards.


Job Duties:

Under the direction of the Sanitation Manager, you will either jointly with the Manager or independency in his absence:

  • Oversee the cleaning and sanitization of equipment, surfaces, utensils and plant environment by providing direction, motivation and technical support to all sanitation employees to ensure sanitation process is completed effectively and on time.
  • Responsible for scheduling with stakeholders, managing day to day activities, oversee the whole operations in the sanitation department.
  • Lead by example and fosters an environment of mutual respect and team work among Team Members
  • Effectively engage, communicate and provide direction on all sanitation related activities in all quality, safety, health, employee relations, operations and maintenance programs.
  • Perform all job responsibilities under the strictest guidelines of the SFCR, BRC and TONFI food safety standards.
  • Ensure all chemicals used in the cleaning process are diluted with a proper solution according to the suppliers' recommendations.
  • Create & maintain accurate records of sanitation activities, inspections, incidents, and inventory levels according to BRC and other audits.
  • Work with QA & Sanitation Manager to Maintain the Master Sanitation Schedule ensuring all daily, weekly, Monthly, Quarterly, Semiannual and Annual tasks are performed and documented.
  • Maintain sanitation chemical, production PPE inventory, Shift reports & KPI's
  • Undertake the visual preop inspection at the end of the cleaning process in order to ensure that the lines meet the required standards and follow up on identified deficiencies in a timely manner.
  • Provide feedback on team member and/or team performance to the Sanitation Manager.
  • Work on KPI aspects of sanitation team and responds according to statistics.
  • Train and supervise sanitation team to ensure they understand and follow proper cleaning techniques, safety protocols, and use of equipment and chemicals.
  • Identify opportunities for improving sanitation processes, efficiency, and effectiveness, and implement changes as needed.
  • Lock out, dismantle, clean and sanitize production equipment in accordance to standard operating procedures.
  • Conduct preshift huddles and provide feedback for Sanitation Team.
  • Conduct daily hand over check and meeting with cross functional team supervisors.
  • Comply with the following programs within the production area: Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP's), all food safety programs, all health & safety programs, All TONFI's policies, programs or procedures.
  • Coordinate all sanitation activities to accomplish sanitation practices according to Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SSOP's)
  • Maintain daily, weekly, and monthly sanitation records.
  • Assist in the development and execution of training and certifications to meet all job requirements and ensure employee compliance with all company and regulatory requirements.
  • Measures and analyzes sanitation performance metrics and participate in weekly and monthly cross functional sanitation meeting to review findings and assign investigation and corrective action responsibilities to drive continuous improvement.
  • Verify compliance to SSOP's by front line employees.
  • Effectively and in a timely manner, assure the release of production environments and equipment through thorough preoperational inspection, ATP swabbing and allergen swabbing and signoff.
  • Complete Quality Assurance oversight for production lines running over standard time.

Qualifications / Skills:


  • Diploma/Certificate or bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience
  • Minimum two years of directly related work experience in dry and wet food production environments
