The team is responsible for strengthening McMaster's relationships, securing gifts, pledges, estate gifts, and other forms of private revenue, and developing a community of funders and supporters for the University.

Job Summary:

Working closely with the Director, Stewardship, the position is responsible for supporting the department's efforts to:

  • build and maintain positive relationships with key internal and external University partners such as alumni, donors, volunteers, and members of the broader community.
- engage with and maintain positive relationships with faculty, staff, students and the University.
- strengthen the University's reputation; and
- help support the various stewardship and donor relations priorities for the university.


Accountabilities:


  • Provide support to the Director for priority stewardship initiatives.
  • Support planning, coordination and execution of projects and/or initiatives involved in the implementation of donor strategies.
  • Support the coordination, organizing, assembling, and dissemination of communications.
  • Assist in the reporting on impact of gifts and recognition efforts for donors.
  • Provide administrative support, as directed by team, in alignment to their goals and objectives.
  • Coordinate, organize, maintain, and provide information, implement efficient record keeping systems and ensure completion of all procedures.
  • Support Advancement events and activities that support stewardship strategies for the senior university leaders.
  • Coordinate and support pre
- and post-visits and advancement travel, strategic meetings and discussions, tours and/or events by engaging with individuals and groups for scheduling and booking purposes, developing and coordinating all communications (i.e. itineraries, agendas and briefing notes) and coordinating physical resources (i.e. space, technology, catering).

  • Develop strong working relationships with key contacts and stakeholders within the internal and external community for the purpose of promoting the activities and programs across the University.
  • Evaluate ongoing programs and recommend modifications and improvements.
  • Play a key role in the advancement team and contribute to the team mission of growing the reputation, relationships, and revenue of the Institution.
  • Update and maintain information in various databases including Advance, and effectively use computer systems designed to manage information on McMaster's advancement program.
  • Participate, from time to time, on a variety of project and work teams in University Advancement.

Qualifications:


  • 3 Year College Degree in a relevant field of study. A McMaster University degree is an asset.
  • Requires 2 years of relevant experience.
  • Event management experience
  • Planning experience and superior communication and interpersonal skills are required to plan, coordinate, and oversee communications targeting alumni, donors, media, government, community members, faculty, staff and University senior administration.
  • Superior interpersonal and communication skills (e.g., written and public speaking)
  • Attention to detail is required to create and produce materials, both conventional and electronic, to be distributed to stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational skills and integrated approach
  • Strong computer skills and experience with databases (ADVANCE)
  • Excellent customerservice skills and strong service orientation
  • Timemanagement and multitasking abilities
  • Knowledgeable about McMaster
