Ontario Shores is seeking an individual with strong interpersonal skills and excellent initiative to assume the Dietary Aide,.

This position is responsible for performing the duties of operating the dishmachine/potmachine, working on the beltline, food portioning and working in other areas of the kitchen to provide food service to patients and visitors,batch sandwich assembly for patient, retail and catering services.


  • KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Trayline assembly of patient trays
  • Portion food items for patient trays following the production sheets
  • Cleaning of soiled food carts including but not limited to patient trays, plates etc
  • Clean and sanitize work surfaces as required ie before any preparation commences
  • Move equipment and return to appropriate place to enable cleaning of all surfaces
  • Setup and pick up of caterings as needed
  • Obtain supplies and replenish food items from storeroom and fridges as needed
  • Identify any safety issues with equipment or processes and report to management

  • Qualifications Required and Preferred
  • Completion of High School Diploma required
  • Food Handlers Certification required
  • Experience in a hospital or institutional kitchen required
  • Knowledge of food preparation in a cook chill environment preferred
  • Sound knowledge of food safety regulations required
  • Experience with batch cold preparation an asset
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation ie WHMIS, Occupational Health and Safety Act and HAACP requirements
  • Good attendance record with ability to maintain same
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team
  • Excellent initiative, effective time management skills, and attention to detail
