WCMRC is hiring a

Full-Time Emergency

Response Planner to join our Response Readiness team in

Burnaby or Nanaimo, B.C.

The primary responsibilities of this position include:

  • Lead certification activities as required, including updating and maintaining the Oil Spill Response Plan, leading the equipment verification inspection program, and designing and executing certification exercises.
  • Work with Operations on Member and Shareholder exercise planning and execution.
  • Provide advice to members on oil spill response plans and activities.
  • Maintain and update WCMRC's Strategic Plans (e.g., Incident Management Plan, Shoreline Response Plan).
  • Support the development and maintenance of WCMRC's strategic response and preparedness plans and contributes to developing tactical plans (i.e., Geographic Response Plans).
  • Maintains and upgrades ICS tools, including display boards, office equipment and supplies.
  • Support community, First Nations, Government, and Industry engagement for Response Readiness initiatives.
  • Assist the Response Readiness Manager with departmental planning and budgeting.
  • Work in accordance with all legal requirements, attend and complete required health and safety training, report incidents, and take necessary precautions to ensure personal safety and the safety of others.
  • Liaise with federal, provincial, regional and Indigenous government agencies to support RRT activities such as Certification exercise planning.
