Responsible for coordinating and providing technical oversight for the computing and audio-visual equipment and systems located in lecture theatres, classrooms, meeting rooms, and other areas on campus, as directed by the Manager.

Provides direct support for large and/or complex events. Assists in the coordination of computer system upgrades in, theatres, classrooms and other campus spaces.

Assists members of the campus community with complex technical issues in a helpdesk environment by reviewing ticket response, triaging and dealing with tickets escalated by the frontline helpdesk staff.

Acts as the departmental technical expert in web and video conferencing services.


Qualifications:


High school graduation and two years post-secondary education or a formal certificate or diploma program equivalent in computing and/or audio-visual technology.

2 years minimum experience. An equivalent combination of formal education, certificate/program of study and experience is acceptable.

  • Excellent knowledge of computers, networking, operating systems (Windows/OSX/Linux), and peripheral equipment.
  • Ability to resolve complex hardware and software problems.
  • Ability to operate and perform setup of audiovisual equipment (e.g., videoconferencing, digital recording, audio and video recording and playback systems, projectors, and microphones and public address systems, etc.).
  • Good knowledge of desktop management tools, such as Active Directory, for deployment and configuration management.
  • Excellent knowledge of script writing and coding languages (e.g., PHP, mySQL, HTML5, CSS, JavaScript and ActionScript) Good organizational and communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Good interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Ability to exercise mature judgment and to work on own initiative.
  • Ability to assign and check the work of other positions.
  • Ability to provide oneonone and group training to others regarding proper use, operation, and minor maintenance of equipment or systems.
  • Ability to work effectively as a member of a team.
  • Ability to lift and/or carry items weighing up to 25 kg.
  • Ability to climb up ladders (at heights up to 15 feet).
  • Ability to stand, walk, climb, and crouch for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to work flexible hours and shifts including early mornings, evenings and weekends on short notice.

Possible flexible shifts and possible weekend shifts.
