Function/Purpose:
The Police Watch Operator provides administrative and operational support on a 24/7 basis to members of the RCMP and Municipal Enforcement.
This position utilizes and is responsible for maintaining all relevant police databases, computer related software, and communication devices while multitasking in fast-paced and high stress environment.
Attention to detail and accuracy are essential components of the role as it provides critical support for officer and public safety.
Job Requirements:
- Grade 1
- Must have 3 years' of direct related experience in a Police environment; may consider 3 years' experience in Legal environment as an equivalent.
- Ability to pass RCMP security clearance prior to receiving an offer of employment
- Must maintain RCMP security clearance throughout employment
- Ability to type 55wpm accurately
- Must be able to satisfactorily complete tested courses in: RCMP PROS User Course, RCMP CPIC Maintenance Course, RCMP Records Information Manager Course and National Call Taking Course
- Must be able to satisfactorily complete Police Watch Operator Training
- Must be able to work shift work in a 24/7 operation
- Must possess the ability to work independently with strong decision making capabilities and critical problem solving skills with the ability to remain calm in emergency and stressful situations
- Discretely handle sensitive information while maintaining confidentiality
- Demonstrated ability to work as part of the team; contributing to a respectful workplace at all times

- Must possess excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to be selfmotivated and work independently with little supervision
- Must be well versed and highly knowledgeable in the statutes and laws of Canada, including but not limited to The Criminal Code of Canada, Provincial and Federal Statutes, and Municipal Bylaws
- Display strong written and oral communication skills.
- Subject to general office noise and sitting for prolonged periods of time

Remuneration:
$31.56 to $33.42 per hour.
Hours of Work:
Hours of work as schedule with no minimum guarantee. Shift work including days, nights and weekends.
