Summary of job description


In support of the CH146 Support Services, the Supervisor of Aircraft Maintenance Services at 408 Sqn Site will be responsible for the delivery of the CH146 services related to the servicing of the CH146 at 408 Tactical Helicopter Squadron in Edmonton, Alberta.


Main tasks and responsibilities will include the following:

  • Lead the activities surrounding the DND CH146 Griffon First Line Maintenance.
  • Liaise with the Military Representatives (SAMEO, SAMS and assigned representatives) to coordinate maintenance activities required to support 408 Sqn operations, to include aircraft stagger, personnel shifts, support to deployment and any other related tasks requested by the customer;
  • Plan and coordinate schedule for operational support during offhour periods if required;
  • Coordinate requests and responses for Additional Work Requirements (AWRs) for specific activities required by the customer that are not included in the baseline services or that require additional funding for their execution;
  • Coordinate the personnel assignment with the responsible managers (subcontractors, Bell Material managers and Maintenance manager), including the qualification requirements and training;
  • Evaluate personnel and recommend changes of responsibilities as required to maintain adequate operational support. Propose and coordinate changes to the airworthiness authorities with the Person Responsible for Airworthiness Authorization (PRAA) and the Senior Maintenance Manager (SMM);
  • Supervise the embedded maintenance team, including the subcontractor team providing aircraft maintenance and related services, including the proper use of the Aircraft Maintenance tools (IETP/IETM, ADAM, etc) and directives;
  • Coordinate other support services required from other Bell support (FSRs, HUMS, PSE, etc), military units and external agencies in the conduct of the aircraft maintenance activities;
  • Report on the performance of the team as it relates to the Key Performance Indicators and other assigned metrics and coordinate with the DND representatives for events that constitute excusable circumstances;
  • Locally maintain a positive welfare environment by supporting a Health & Safety program that is in line with company policies and with the military requirements and directives;
  • Promote and support the different internal and external audits, the Flight Safety program, the Tool Control program and Continuous Improvement programs in effect at 408 Sqn, participating in the identification of issues, their related investigations and corrective action plans as required;
  • Support the BHTCL Military AMO to ensure compliance with the CH146 Approved Maintenance program and related directives, and propose changes to maintain the Maintenance Process Manual (MPM) and related Operating Instructions (OI) current and relevant, implementing changes when required; and
  • Support special projects and tasks as requested by DND and authorized by Bell management team.

Requirements:


  • College degree in aircraft maintenance related field or related equivalent training and experience.
  • Eight (8) years of experience in the conduct, management, or supervision of aircraft maintenance, preferably within a DND CH146 unit or within other military rotary wing units.
  • Operational knowledge of the CH146 HUMS system.
  • Experience as a supervisor or a team lead.
  • Excellent knowledge of the Canadian Forces airworthiness regulations and maintenance. program related policies.
  • Experience with the Canadian Forces aircraft change management process.
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Excel, Word.
  • Good interpersonal skills and be able to work under pressure and with the various stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational skills are essential.
  • Excellent communication skills, with demonstrated ability to make presentations to Senior. Management and customers.
  • Functional knowledge of English. Basic knowledge of the French language is desirable.
  • Any other combination of schooling and experience deemed equivalent may be considered
