This key role in the Revenue Optimization organization reports to the Senior Director, Revenue Management Science & Technology Strategy.

The Manager Availability, Itinerary & Revenue Integrity Methods leads their team to calibrate, govern and develop Air Canada's real-time Revenue Management support systems & processes.

These systems include our itinerary building logic, our revenue integrity practice & systems, and our fare availability engine (which ultimately computes the price of our flights).

In close collaboration with IT, Distribution, E-commerce, Sales, Corporate Security, and Revenue Management, this role ensures Air Canada's Revenue Management and Revenue Integrity systems deliver their full revenue potential.


Role & Responsibilities:

Take the helm of Air Canada's knowledge & systems.

  • Acquire a strong understanding of Revenue Management, distribution, and IT pertaining to the role.
  • Master the rules & data governing our revenue management systems.
  • Closely collaborate across branches to shape and implement a robust revenue management technologies roadmap. This includes continuous pricing, offer & order management, and new system functionalities to support revenue generation.
  • Guide the development of our Machine Learning/Artificial Intelligence (AI) solutions oriented towards fare abuse prevention.
  • Collaborate with our joint venture airline partners to develop unified models & best practices.
  • Represent Air Canada in industry specialized forums on availability and revenue integrity.
The custodian of our Availability, Itinerary Building and Revenue Integrity methods:

  • Guarantee the health and rightful utilization of Air Canada's Availability Calculation system ensure our seats are saleable at the right price on the right channel.
  • Govern and improve the parameters governing availability calculation, itinerary building and revenue integrity systems to ensure their alignment with our commercial goals.
  • Represent Air Canada in front of technical teams and external stakeholders to ensure the performance and accuracy of our support systems.
  • Develop and maintain analytical tools & techniques to investigate and to track performance. Ensure these models translate into meaningful action at all levels.

An effective player in our commercial organization:

  • Maintain collaborative relationships with peers in Revenue Management, Product Distribution, and other commercial departments to create a clear understanding of the processes of availability calculation, itinerary building and revenue integrity and how they contribute to revenue generation.
  • Provide guidance and recommendations to Revenue Management to effectively translate their business needs into robust availability strategies and exceed the branch's revenue objectives.
  • In collaboration with product distribution, lead investigations to identify sell failures and availability circumvention to mitigate their negative impacts on revenue and identify solutions.
  • Efficiently communicate and educate others on changes impacting their usage of our systems and interaction with our processes.

Qualifications

  • Postsecondary education in Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, Computer Science, Economics, Business, Operations Research, Project Management or equivalent work experience.
  • 5+ years of relevant work experience
  • Proven experience in revenue management, distribution, or operations research with indepth notions of the systems and stakeholders in the revenue generation process.
  • Solid airline commercial orientation and experience and an understanding of the airline industry distribution landscape
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Access)
  • Experience with OD revenue management, PROS RTDP or reservations an asset
  • Superior analytical and organization skills and high degree of comfort with complex processes and systems (IT experience and knowledge an asset)
  • Ability to lead and influence people across teams and hierarchies.
  • Ability to communicate complex concepts to teams with different levels of expertise.
  • A strong sense of urgency and ability to work under significant pressure, changing priorities, tight deadlines and limited information.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in both English and French an asset.
