    Position Information Position Title Part-Time Academic: PHYL 3120 Exercise Physiology - Fall Posting Number PTAP2388P Department/Unit Physiology & Biophysics Location Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada Job Summary & Key Responsibilities The successful candidate will be expected to deliver an engaging, seminar-like, exercise physiology course to third and fourth year undergraduate students, in accordance with established learning objectives.
    • Prepare, design, and implement course activities to support and encourage students' learning of concepts related to "exercise physiology in health and disease" in a face-to-face educational setting.
    • Deliver in-persons classes on Tuesdays and Thursdays between 9:35AM-11:25AM.
    • Design, implement, manage, and fairly evaluate diverse assessments in accordance with the course's learning objectives.
    • Administrative duties related to the assigned course (e.g. grade submission).
    • Hire, train, manage, and supervise one teaching assistant (TA).
    • Communicate promptly and respectfully with a diverse body of students, both in person and via technology (e.g. email, video meetings, etc.), with the aim of enhancing students course experience.
    • Work collaboratively with other faculty members to ensure consistent and effective delivery of instruction.
    • Use course-specific Brightspace sites to communicate with students about course-related matters, and to enhance the delivery of instruction.
    • Create safe, respectful, inclusive, and welcoming learning environments so that all students — including under-represented groups — feel supported and valued.
    Qualifications/Requirements of Position
    • PhD in Physiology or related field.
    • Prior experience teaching exercise physiology courses at the post-secondary level.
    • Evidence of teaching effectiveness and/or evidence-based teaching at the post-secondary level.
    • Ability and motivation to deliver high-quality in-person instruction.
    • Ability and motivation to communicate effectively and respectfully with a diverse body of students.
    • Ability and motivation to create safe, respectful, inclusive, and student-centered learning environments.
