Chew Contracting, a Ralmax Company, has an exciting and immediate opening for a Dispatcher in Victoria.

The Dispatcher is responsible for supporting operations staff by supplying the trucks and/or equipment as requested daily with the intent to maximize job production and efficiency.

This is a varied position with the opportunity to work with external customers as well as many Chew departments and other Ralmax companies.

The Chew equipment portfolio includes tandem dump trucks, trailers, bulldozers, excavators, crushers, backhoes, wheel loaders and much more. We're excited about our new slinger trucks and transfer trailers added to the fleet this Spring.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

  • Coordinate with internal and external customers for job information, equipment needs and schedules
  • Assign operators and drivers to equipment in cooperation with requests from operations
  • Manage and coordinate schedules for all drivers
  • Source out hired trucks, rental equipment, and other suppliers
  • Ensure customers have credit and obtain accurate billing information and purchase orders
  • Collect driver/operator tickets daily and ensure they are accurately coded for payroll
  • Record equipment moves and hired trucks in the HCSS dispatch system
  • Coordinate with Chew and Nixons shops to schedule equipment maintenance and repairs
  • Support the Chew Safety program by ensuring pretrip inspections are complete and drivers have safety training and tool box talks as required
  • Build and maintain relationships within the local industry

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of heavy equipment and trucks is required and experience as a driver or operator an asset
  • Experience in civil construction preferred
  • Strong organizational skills and a customer service mindset
  • Composure in dealing with difficult situations and effectively manage conflicting and fast changing priorities
  • Able to communicate effectively in English
  • Strong analytical and problemsolving skills
  • Must be eligible to work in Canada
  • MS Office skills required; experience in dispatch and project management software preferred

Working Conditions

  • Fulltime salary position based at the Chew Office, with regular hours of 8:00 4:30 with occasional evening and weekend work required
  • Must be able to stand and/or sit for extended periods of time
  • A company vehicle will be available for offsite work if required and a valid class 5 driver's license must be maintained
  • Must provide and wear steeltoed safety boots; other PPE will be provided and must be used as required
  • Work both indoors and outdoors in a mixed office/industrial setting
  • Follow all Company policies and procedures
  • Exposure to noise and vibration from trucks and machinery
