    The Opportunity
    Carewest is a wholly owned subsidiary of AHS. Carewest specializes in the continuing care sector and is the only post-acute short stay inpatient provider in Calgary. The role will include overseeing day to day operations, innovative program planning, implementation and evaluation that meet the needs of our clients and families, effective and efficient operational utilization of resources and strong collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
    Program Summary
    The professional practice lead will support complex client situations and trends, demonstrate clinical expertise, possesses knowledge and understanding of rehabilitation clinical roles and interdisciplinary team members. Leading clinical guidelines and protocols development and implementation, identifying opportunities to increase rehabilitation practice based on best evidence, clinical team consultation while collaborating with appropriate stakeholders both internal and external to Carewest on system change with following through with planning, implementation and evaluation of initiatives.

    Required Qualifications and Expereince

    • Masters or Bachelors Degree in Occupational Therapy.
    • Current registration with appropriate professional licensing college
    • Minimum of 5 years in a clinical operational leadership health care role
    • Experience with the mentorship of teams of significant size, complexity and diversity.
    • Experience with quality improvement design and implementation
    • Build relationships with foundations and committees within Alberta
    • Ability to continually analyze effectiveness of strategies and implement quality and process improvements.
    • Able to demonstrate competence in the evaluation of services to meet the needs of the patient population.
    • Previous experience leading best practice in a unionized environment.
    • Understanding of transitions in care from acute care to home

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Experience with post-acute outcome assessments
    • Understanding of Continuing Care health Service Standards, policy and procedures.
    • Understanding of Frailty in acute care
    • PROSCI change management modules or certification
    • LEAN, Six Sigma, or AHS AIW modules
    • Accreditation experience
    • Experience in Connect Care
    • Experience in data collection, analysis and interpretation for workload measurement
