As a Health Care Aide (HCA), you are responsible for providing personal assistance, supporting activities of daily living and providing comfort and support services to patients (clients, residents) who require short-term assistance or ongoing support.

You will work closely with patients, families, and caregivers spanning the continuum of care in home, community or health care facilities.

You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

Demonstrated ability to work effectively with patients and families in stressful situations necessary. Demonstrates effective interpersonal and communication skills within a team setting. Maintains a standard of high quality care, self-directed and motivated.

Demonstrates a caring attitude towards patients and families, ability to relate to clients in a caring manner with respect and dignity.

Ability to work collaboratively with team members is essential. Physical ability to assist with lifting, turning, and transferring adult patients essential. Ability to handle the physical demands of the HCA position. Medication course required when working day/night rotations.


Preferred Qualifications:

Experience working with seniors and cognitively impaired individuals considered an asset. Ability to utilize safe transferring and lifting equipment (i.e. It's your Move certification) considered an asset. Current Basic Cardiac Life Support

  • Healthcare Provider (BCLS-HCP) preferred. Previous nursing attendant experience in LTC. Supportive Pathways, or Dementia training is preferred.
